Big Brown Takes Next Step in Preakness
Undefeated Kentucky Derby winner Big Brown vanquished the 19 most accomplished 3-year-olds in the Derby but the road to racing immortality is pitted with a full field of fresh challengers in Baltimore for Saturday’s 133rd running of the Preakness.
The Preakness undercard includes seven other stakes races and two guaranteed pick-4’s - $250,000 on races 4-7 and $1,000,000 on races 9-12.

Pimlico Special/Black-Eyed Susan Day is Friday
Pimlico also has a huge day of racing on Friday May 16, highlighted by the return of the storied Pimlico Special (gr. I), the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes (gr. II), and advance wagering on the entire Preakness card for anyone who can’t make it on Saturday.
The Pimlico Special is one of America’s truly historic races. Its second running was the famed match race between Seabiscuit and War Admiral and subsequent editions have been won by legends like Cigar, Skip Away, Whirlaway and Citation. It was not run in 2007 but the 2006 Pimlico Special lived up to its storied history as the coming out party for Horse of the Year Invasor.
The Black-Eyed Susan is the traditional filly counterpart to the Preakness. Champions Twilight Tear, Davona Dale, Serena’s Song and Silverbulletday are among the most notable winners of the Black-Eyed Susan.
Friday’s first post at Pimlico is 12:15. The Pimlico Special will go off at 4:40 PM and the Black-Eyed Susan is slated for 5:45.
