POKER ‘N’ PONIES ON FRIDAY, 5K RUN AND “ALL YOU CAN EAT” TRACKSIDE FEAST ON SATURDAY, AND DERBY DAY NEXT WEEKEND!
FREE Texas Hold’em Tournament on Friday

Colonial’s second qualifying round in the Poker ‘N Ponies promotion is this Friday, July 10, and $1,000 in betting vouchers will be up for grabs!

Registration for the FREE poker tournament, which is open to 400-plus players, begins at 5 PM and the tournament starts after the 4th horse race at 7:30PM. The tournament will take place in conjunction with live racing, which begins at 6:00 PM.

The tournament will take place on the first floor of the air conditioned grandstand, right near the concession areas, cocktail bars, betting windows and the track itself. We’ll have a beverage special in the poker area as well until 9 PM.

The top 100 finishers from Friday’s contest will advance to the final round on Friday, July 24th, where $2,500 in vouchers will be up for grabs. People that qualified for the final at the June 26th tourney can still compete for prize money this Friday! For more info, call Colonial Downs at 804-966-7223.

The Virginia Derby 5k Run Is This Saturday!

Kick off Virginia Derby week festivities this weekend with the Virginia Derby 5k Run at the New Kent Winery on Saturday, July 11th. The $15 registration fee includes the 8:30am race with prizes, a commemorative t-shirt, a post-race wine tasting, and admission to the following Saturday’s Virginia Derby! It’s the most affordable and unique run of the year!

Register in person beginning at 7:30am the day of the race, or download an application online at newkentwinery.com or colonialdowns.com. The winery is off I-64 at Exit 211, three miles from the track.

Countdown to the Virginia Derby – One Week!

The biggest day of racing on Virginia’s annual calendar is almost here! Saturday, July 18 brings the top three year old turf horses to Colonial Downs for the 12th annual $750,000 Virginia Derby (Gr. II).

Compete in the Virginia Lottery’s Fancy Hat Contest and be one of 21 ladies or gentlemen to win $100 in Corvette Cash Tickets! Categories include Best Homemade, Most Outrageous, the Southern Belle, the True Couture, the Derby Male, Most Eco-Friendly, and Best Virginia Themed.

Chill on Derby Hill

“Bring your own party” this year to the track’s first turn area. A $20 advance sale ticket allows you to bring your own adult beverages, cooler, picnic food, chairs and grill to this unique Derby Day setting. Party with the Richmond Ski Club from 11 AM- 7 PM at the “Chill on Derby Hill”! The ticket price goes up to $30 the day of. Kids 12 and under are free.

Party Zone

An all inclusive ticket to the season’s biggest day, where you will celebrate with food, drinks, and plenty of fun.
