Trainer Green Stays Hot at Colonial With a Win Wednesday Afternoon

September 26, 2012

(NEW KENT, VA) — Trainer Jason Green has only nine starts at the three-plus week old Colonial Downs fall meet, but with five wins and a pair of seconds, he has reason to smile.

That fifth win came Wednesday afternoon when K J Hannah scored a two length triumph in a fillies and mares conditioned race against seven other foes. The 3 year old Real Desire filly came first over entering the turn, passed front stepping Madame Delaware exiting the turn and never looked back en route to her second win of the fall meet and fifth of the year. Her finishing time of 1:52 2/5 was two full seconds better than her prior best. Madame Delaware finished second while Long Island Madam took third.

Driver Keith Cash Jr. guided K J Hannah for owner Dr. Scott Woogen, who had another victory with K J Anita later in the card. Both of Woogen’s horses had strong showings in the recent Emergency Squads of Virginia Pacing Series. K J Hannah scored an early leg win, a second  and tight fourth in the final while K J Anita, trained by Manley Brown, had a fifth, second and a solid third in the finale.

Colonial Downs hosts a ten race card on Thursday beginning at 1 PM. The fall season continues on a Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday basis through October 14th.
