Restrictions on horses entering at Colonial Downs 2020:
No horse over the age of ten (10) will be allowed to race at Colonial Downs. All ten year old horses must have finished 1st, 2nd or 3rd as a nine year old in order to race at Colonial Downs.
Six year old and older first time starters must meet the following requirements:
- Must have two (2) officially recorded workouts with at least one of which must be one-half (1/2) mile from the starting gate at Colonial Downs in 52 seconds or better and be approved by the Starter.
- Gate work must be observed and approved by a Commission Veterinarian.
- Blood will be drawn following the gate work by a Commission Veterinarian at the owner’s or trainer’s expense and tested as a Race Day Panel and cleared by the testing laboratory before being allowed to enter or start.
- The ability for any six year old or older maiden to run at Colonial Downs is at the discretion of the Commission Veterinarians and Racing Secretary.
Any horse over the age of twelve (12) may not run at Colonial Downs.
